Hi Chrissie

Do you mean you haven't got a confirmed dx of Sjorgrens? My GP prescribed a dry mouth spray, and I haven't been diagnosed, also some gel for dry eyes.

No harm in asking your GP chrissie, he may be willing to prescribe even if you don't have an official diagnosis.

well i have just rang some one and she gave good advise

i need to change my eye drops and start getting a dx and strart useing the mouth stuff ( denist did tell me )
but in last 4 weeks i think things have got worse .

So the lady told me what to do
So now off to docs to start ball rolling it was the question before on what denist could put on the strit he gives me some things but i need a firm dx
And what the doc was meant to do .But i did not feel like going or doing So doc knows nothing about it yet . as going on holiday and coming back to apps about m/s and such like .

so going to do it now or i won,t feel like it and end up gummie toothless ha ha I have other usefull apps coming up where i could be sorted

I think if you already have a diagnosis of RA then develop dry eyes/mouth, the rheumy will treat you for sjogrens without further need for tests. Apart from the drops and gels, you are probably already on the drugs to treat sjogrens anyway (plaquenil, methotrexate or similar immunosuppressants)

My initial diagnosis last Spring was sjogrens and it wasn't until I had changed rheumys after worsening symptoms of joint pains that my new rheumy told me I had raised rheumatoid factor 14 months earlier! Unfortunately, it doesn't work the other way round. Early RA is treated aggressively whereas sjogrens tends to be a gradual trial of drugs increasing in strength.

Hope you get some relief Chrissie - I use viscotears and glandosane. XX Ailsa

Hi Chrissie
oh you aswell sorry ehar that
right well last year when i was on Mtx and Naproxen togther i got extremly dry mouth ended up getting deep filling which is 1 i now got asbcess.
anyway dentist like u told me see doc i did got spray gp teted me for sjorgrens syndrome via bloods then later in year rheumy di the dry eye test i dont have sjongrens syndrome it was mix of naproxen and mtx casued it.

you can get a choice if sprays from gp soem are oily you will need try couple,,just say dentist asked you see them about dry mouth u will need see doc.

also sip water when can and get rheumy do offical sjongrens syndrome test to confirm.

hope that helps.

Chrissie - My dentist and my rheummy said I should get a mouth spray with fluoride in it. If you ask your GP they will prescribe the correct one.

I find sucking fruit pastilles and mint tic tacs help. I always carry a bottle of water with me too. The spray does work, but only for a few minutes.
